BARRO FEST 2023 generated great tourist, cultural and economic impact in the Valle de Antón in Panama

(Panama City-ANPanama) El Valle de Antón had hotel occupancy close to 100%, benefited from the celebration of the Barro Fest 2023, it is estimated that more than 3,000 people participated in its different components, which integrated the experience of Coclesan traditions with concerts of Rock and Roll, attracting national and foreign visitors, generating a positive economic impact.

For Carlos Caballero, president of the Chamber of Commerce of El Valle de Antón, the direct impact that occurred in lodging with a capacity of around 100% occupancy of the participants and visitors, economically benefited the tourist activity of this region of the country. .

In addition to the tourist and economic impact, it was positive culturally and socially, by contributing to the conservation of the traditions of the Coclesan embarra board, the dance of the Cucuá devils, the handsome bull and the quitipiés.

According to the Tourism Authority of Panama ATP, El Valle de Antón is an important destination according to the Sustainable Tourism Master Plan, in which projects have been developed to promote it as a sustainable tourist destination at a national and international level.

The first 30 kilometers of trails of La Ruta de la Caldera, in El Valle de Antón, were recently inaugurated, with the aim of positioning it as an adventure tourism destination as part of the 1,000 Kilometers of Trails National Project.

In this 2023, the ATP works on strategies focused on continuing to improve the tourist infrastructure in El Valle de Antón and continuing the development of the Ruta de la Caldera, the installation of tourist signs, interpretive panels, the development of workshops focused on marketing issues of experience towards the communities, English training, creation of marketing sub-committees, green tourism and security, among others.
