El Valle de Antón approved as a priority tourist destination in Panama
The results of the consultancy for the elaboration of the aforementioned plan with a scope to 2025 was recently presented by the general administrator of the Panama Tourism Authority (ATP), Iván Eskidsen, to the directors of the CNT.

The National Tourism Council (CNT), the highest management and consultation body in matters of tourism, approved the Action Plan for the Tourist Destination of El Valle de Antón, one of the priority destinations of the Master Plan for Sustainable Tourism (PMTS).
In resolution #013 of November 22, 2022, which bears the signature of the president of the CNT, Felipe Ariel Rodríguez, and the general administrator of the ATP, who serves as secretary of this body, it is clear that the plan in question contemplates three axes: diagnosis, positioning strategy and action plan, based on the four strategic goals of the PMTS: a better known Panama, a more competitive Panama, a more decentralized tourism and tourism as a State policy
El Valle de Antón is located on a volcano crater, the largest inhabited in Latin America; It has a diversity of natural resources for the visitor to enjoy such as: waterfalls, rivers, trails and valleys; likewise, archaeological sites such as La Piedra Pintada, one of the largest petroglyphs in this region; also agrotourism farms, a zoo, hot springs and a souvenir market, where agricultural products are sold.
In October 2021, during a tour of this region, the general administrator of the ATP identified El Valle de Antón as a site with high potential for tourism development because it is conducive to adventure activities such as: hiking, bird watching, waterfall tours. , mountain biking, trail running, among others.
During this tour, the ATP met with representatives of ADESVA, with the purpose of reviewing the development plans for trails in this destination considered an important complement within the Pacific Riviera tourist pole, one of the eight priority destinations of the PMTS.
The goal is to transform El Valle de Antón into an adventure tourism destination and that is why the ATP is scheduled to inaugurate next month the first phase of the 1,000 Kilometers of Trails Project, on the La Caldera Route, a work that joins several sections of trails inside and outside protected areas, which articulate tourist icons such as India Dormida, Cerro Caitán, Chorro Mozas, among others.
The ATP also seeks to integrate into local development the different associations that are relevant and participate in the growth of tourism in El Valle, where this year it delivered tourism revitalization works, including: pedestrian bridge, bike paths, concrete ramps, bus stops. covered, bike racks, sidewalks reverted to cobblestones, among others.
This
beautiful and magical place can be reached by bus or private vehicle from
almost anywhere in the country. Private and group tours are also available
through selective transportation and professional tour companies.
